Hello all the happy people. I'm Vik from Pretoria. I bought my son an electric guitar for xmas and as I always wanted to learn how to play myself I decided to make it a hobby we would both enjoy. I purchased myself a Squier Bullet Stratocaster and got it yesterday. Unfortunately it needs some setting up which will be done on Saturday. Besides the small 1 watt amplifier that came with my sons guitar I haven't got the other gear yet, but at least I can plug it in at the classes that we take. I'm so excited! ?

welcome to the nuthouse vikster. Good choice on the bullet. excellent student guitar my fiance is actually learning to play on one aswell. much better instrument than i'd think most of us here learn't on. Keep at it. When frustration kicks in look to us we will be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding gear, lessons whatever you need to know.

Actually it was a long time deciding whether I want to play bass or not. To tell you the honest truth the deission in the end was financial (two of everything!), and the fact that learning together with my son would be easier. I am hoping however that when I get this whole playing thing under control, I would be able to learn bass as well. Fear not I will join you one day.

Not true...I've been having a blast this week on my (t)rusty 4-stringer - So much so, I'll be sticking the guits back into storage! Farrrr too many guitarists floating around, far better odds of a jam as a bassist 8)

Financially, not playing might be the sanest option...hence the numerous welcome(s) to the nuthouse!

Quick question. I bought my guitar at a musical instrument shop close to me. I noticed that it does not have a whammy bar although there seems to be provision for it. When I got it was just as is over the counter (apparently an order for xmas that wasn't picked up), no box and no documentation. When I asked about the documentation I was told there is none. I didn't spot the missing whammy bar. Is it standard or should it be there? The pick guard is still wrapped in plastic. It's a Squier Bullet Stratocaster.

Bullets are not supplied with tremelo arms. If you should need one. it screws into the block. it's not the push pull version. you shouldnt need to use your tremelo arm for the first few years anyways ?

I phoned the store I bought it at and apparently they forgot to supply it. I picked it up with some springs and stuff. I don't think
I'll use it specially reading reviews about the Squier losing it's tuning when using the tremolo, but if it is part of the package I paid for it must be included.

Hey vickster welcome the strings are most prolly not stretched properly. Tune stretch tune stretch tune stretch. Keep going until you see the tuning stabilize
