I think it's completely ridiculous that Petty would get a writing credit for Sam Smith's track, and I would be embarrassed if I were him. There are probably a million unknown songs whose authors could also be given a credit. Everything is derivative. Nothing is 100% original. I always think the best one of these is the Coldplay / Joe Satriani debacle: =

chris77 I Won't Back Down is one of my favorite songs to play and I must have heard Stay With Me a million times already - It's just everywhere. But I never noticed the similarity until I read about it.
