Let me correct you regarding SAMRO.
In the past, SAMRO always administered royalties on behalf of composers and publishers for Performances of musical works. They still do this and will continue to do so indefinitely.
When SARRAL closed down, SAMRO also took over the administration of Mechanical royalties (i.e. when recordings are reproduced or copied). NORM also administered Mechanical royalties, but for publishers only, not freelance composers.
There is now a new body called CAPASSO which will take over the admin of all Mechanical royalties.

As such, neither NORM nor SAMRO will continue to do this.
Another type of royalty is Needletime, which is a performance royalty for artists and recording owners. Needletime is handled by SAMPRA.

To the original poster:
Have you registered your songs with SAMRO? also, have you informed them of the internet plays and airplay? This really helps, as it assists SAMRO in knowing when performances of your songs took place. SAMRO is only as good as the data it receives and sometimes this is non-existent. Sure, SAMRO can be slow sometimes, but often the radio or TV stations are at fault by not providing detailed playlists.
If you compose music, you should visit the CASA website (Composers Association of SA):
