Wow !! Should have been called the Billy and Nuno show (though I'll admit I'm possibly a tad biased in that direction ?)

Steve struggled a lot especially at first and on the softer songs requiring more control, but that was pretty much irrelevant to me after Billy took the stage.

The tone just had me mesmerized !!

Looking at the members in this forum... LOTS of talent.
I went to woodstock a few years back and found that the talent I preferred were the bands in the side tents and lapas as opposed to the main stages.

Heard after the fact that they were there, really wish I could have caught their performance !

As Frank Zappa said, the commercial comes to you but you have to go to the underground. I like to fantasize about seeing bands in those last gigs before making it big, top of their game and intimate and up close... like imagine System Of A Down in a small dirty sweaty heaving club bursting at the seams in a venie so small the amps don't need a mic... that would have been epic ?

What did everyone think about the CT show last night?

I thought the Reverend and Nuno were AWESOME. I liked the way Nuno was faithful to the solos he was playing, but still played them like him. Disappointed we didn't get more Extreme stuff but I'd seen the Jhb setlist so was expecting it.

I thought Steven and Robin were a mixed bag. Both had some mesmerizing songs and showed they have great pipes, but I felt that neither showed enough respect to songs by the other bands by actually learning them properly. Although Steven stuffed up Come Together (which has been in the Aerosmith set list since the 70s), his major f-up was More Than Words: clearly didn't know it well enough and then started wailing which was a bit grim. On Paradise City, and the end of Mr Brownstone, Robin sounded like he was doing exactly what he WAS doing - reading the words off the teleprompter. I don't expect him to duplicate Axl's phrasing, but everyone here who's ever sung a cover song will know that feeling when you've get the lyrics printed out and can't quite make the phrasing fit properly. If you're getting paid a fair amount to do it, though: go and listen. Again and again and again. Even if it snuck up on him in Jhb, he's had 4 days since then to listen and get it right, or at least sound closer. I don't mean to dump all over him, because I thought The Flame, among others, was great, but it just seemed so half-assed. Especially when compared with how much work Nuno, in particular, had done (to be fair, I suspect he's that good a muso that he didn't have to do as much work as it sounded like...)

All round it was still awesome, but the disappointing aspects really bugged me (can you tell?). If we'd had Miles Kennedy again with, say, Steven T, I think it would have been amazing, but the combination of Robin and Steven just wasn't up to a lot of the songs that weren't theirs.
