Hey guys, so I found as much as I love my 1 watt blackstar, it seemed that the 8 inch speaker just didnt cut it compared to a 12 inch.

I had a 2x12 cabinet with only 1 speaker in and my original plan was to convert it into a 1x12 cabinet and use the Blackstar as a head (it is small enough).

But then I realised for the sake of simplicity, and since I would almost always want to run the amp through the 12 inch, that perhaps I should just make space for the amp to attach to the cabinet and thus have a 1x12 combo. The pics are below:

The 2x12 cabinet before...was very dirty and the tolex was peeling off:

Took the amp section out of the Blackstar:

Peeled off the tolex:

Once the tolex was off, I cut a space for the amp to fit:

Quick check to see it fits:

Skipped quite a bit, but basically cut the cab in half, attached a new side to it and added the corner pieces and handle. You'll also notice I added a piece of wood with a hinge for the purpose of being able to tilt the amp back:

I found the speaker wires didn't reach in the new cabinet, so I extended them:

And here are the 2 cabinets which my amp now fits in (notice the wood on the amp section itself which I was using for tilting the amp in its original cab):

The tilt leg works well:
Cool idea ? How does it sound through the 12"? And what speaker is in the bigger cab?
Maybe not the most revealing clip but I recorded a song with the amp in its new cab with the 12 inch and posted it here:

Its a lot fuller and it feels like it has a bit more headroom (I use pedals on the clean channel and don't use the drive channel)

The speaker is an old stock speaker from a cheapy solid state amp...anyone got a decent speaker to sell at a decent price?
