Home made guitars, they are muuuuuch cheaper, and you can shape and colour them any which way that you like - and the only eyeballs that you might possibly offend are your own. It is also faaaaaar more satisfying to play something that you have created yourself.

Not sure if home made guitars end up cheaper. But agree with the rest. You end up really, really understanding how they work and deeply bonded

Fender in general, Gibson for a few specific models. Both are way overpriced locally though.
