A Hofner. My dad used to joke and say hes never seen so many knobs and switches that seem to do NOTHING hahahaha. He later gave me a '68 Telecaster to put me out of my misery or i would have given up then ;)

My first guitar was a cheap Johnson Strat copy. I've since retired it because the body crack at the bridge recess and it won't stay in tune. I replaced it with a Ibanez Gio and will probably have it sorted out one day. ?

i was an all-yammie guy. my dad bought me a yammie nylon string to learn on and paid for lessons (he was a mean folk guitar player in his day). when i'd been playing for about a year and a half, he upgraded me to a yamaha 12-string. it was gorgeous. but, oh, that octave g. played it for about 6 months, got tired of shelling out for singles and double-the-dosh for full sets when necessary, so i traded it in on an ovation copy with a lovely green top. unfortunately, the damn thing was pretty much unplayable. not the setup, but a) the sound of the thing was, i'm certain, the inspiration for the soundtrack to psycho, and b) sitting down and playing it was a feat of gymnastic impossibility.

after that i turned to electric and had a breakthrough. washburn nb2, some peavey 50w solid state with a whole whack of knobs, switches and channels. lordy. i had fun with that and regret selling it to this day. but sell it i did, and thus began my love affair with les pauls.

so a great loss, yes, that washburn, but it lead to greater things, as guitar journeys often tend to do

hey. rumour has it sanchez took it upon themselves to make the odd scorcher long time passing... nearly purchased a sanchez lp meself, until i didn't then found it lying around in a studio a week or so later. guy who bought it said it played like a dream and wouldn't part with it for all the money in his wallet.

The missus and I went through a rough patch some time ago, during an argument I took my wrath out on the sancheeze, suffice to say the pine body splintered like cheap glassware. Not a proud moment for me or the guitar. ☹

The neck didn't break though, nor did it separate from the body. I kept it because the machine heads are pretty good plus the rosewood might come in handy. The rest went into the trash.

Les Paul copy. Can't remember the name though. Came with a cheap amp as well. After that I played a Westone Rainbow II.

Cost my parents all of R35 back in 1973. I still own it buy I have kindly leased it to my son, Oscar, who is now 25.

I don't think there has ever been a more momentous 35bux ever spent!

One of my friends started to learn in high school and he had a crappy Behringer guitar. I also wanted to learn because it looked cool, so my dad bought me a PRS Modern Eagle.

After 6 months I was getting pretty good and could play two Nickleback songs so I needed an upgrade. Luckily I found a guy on Gumtree willing to trade his sweet Cort acoustic for my PRS.

:sorry: nooooooooo. i just recently found out what it would cost me to replace the custom 22 i sold not too long ago for a mere peanut or two.

oh well. buyer's gain, seller's loss. we live and learn. never, ever again, unless i have money to burn, or i'm aubs1
