Tronical on Ibanez

Hi Guys,

Disclaimer - I am a beginner and yes tuning a guitar can frustrate me especially as I love playing rocksmith which now contains a lot of songs in different tunings. I am only considering this for one of my two guitars and yes I know I should feel a little dirty for considering auto tuners.

So here is my question has anybody imported and fitted a Tronical Autotuner to an Ibanez. It's the same company who did the min-etune for Gibson. I went to Marshall music asking for assistance as I am not sure which one to buy from the site. There are templates to print which will help you check but I not comfortable with removing machine heads to check the templates.

The Ibanez I am considering for this is an AR300

I also own a Epiphone Les Paul Plus top pro 2013 model.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Don't do eeeeeet. Tune manually, you'll become quick at it.

Get a Korg Pitchblack if you don't have one already. They're fun and robust and not massively expensive. You may have to get a new one, they don't seem to be sold much (which says a lot).

It's a gimmick... If i were you I would use a second guitar for an alternate tuning. So keep it in dropped D or whatever and just grab it when you feel the need for those chug chugs

No dude. Learn to tune your guitar. if you cant tune your guitar how are you expecting to play by ear when rocksmith has taught you a few songs? The pitch black tuner is a great thing get it. its cheap as chips and makes your life a hell of alot easier when it comes to alternate tunings. DONT GET AN AUTO TUNER!!!! Do you think Any of the greats had autotuners? No they studied their craft. Say this to yourself outloud every night you go to bed "EADGBE"

yeah dude..I Agree with everyone here..get yourself a Korg Pitchblack Tuner or even the older Boss TU-2...It will make ur life wayyyyyy easier ?

and learn these tunings:

Standard: EADGBE
Half Step Down: C#G#C#F#A#D#
Drop D: DADGBE
Drop C: CGCFAD

I Keep a guitar in each tuning for when I Jam songs in those tunings ?

No dude.. youre not seeing this in a lucid or transparent mannerat all...

Instead of buying an autotuner or tuner (ahem.. your xbox has this already and you can download a tuner on your clever phone... helloooo)..
Use that money wisely and buy another guitar. Then you will have 3 guits.. tune each one to the tunings you use..

Use more than 3 tunings.. you probably need more guitars!

What kind of rubbish guitar or strings you have (lol) that require tuning while you play. Remember americans are master marketers, they can sell ice to the eskimo's I always say. There are better ways to spend money as guidothepimmp says. When I starter playing guitar the first thing we learned was to tune our guitar and in those days we did not have electronic gadgets telling us what to do. I still used an A tuning fork and did the other string from there. It not only teaches you the sound or tuning of each string but also improves your hearing. After a while one does no longer need a tuning gadget at all and you can advise other guitar players which string to adjust as they don't hear that they are out of tune as they can only "see" it. m2c

I'm with guido..............buy a few guitars.

None of my guitars have the same tuning or even the same gauge strings.

I have a TU-2 and never regret the day that I got it.

Holy bananas look at all this jealousy lmfao. Fellas the guy didn't ask if you would buy the same. He likes his guitar and would like to flip between tunings quickly and is researching IMO a very nice bit of gear for those not interested in a guitar other than what they are playing. Far as I can tell it fits into budget too. So lets attempt to actually answer the question without inane babble as to opinion:

I would encourage you to remove the machine heads and check the templates at your next string swop. This will at least help you not screw up on choice. After that, have a chat with Foster at Foster Guitar Works, if you want it installed properly he is the only guy I would speak to.

Ignore people telling you what you want iant what you want, what total BS. If you have the bucks and you like the idea hell go for it and come out up a review. I'd be interested in this upgrade for my Start tbh. "Get another guitar blah blah blah" well who says I feel like bending over, pulling cable, removing from case and swopping every single time? Auto tuning can save a lot of time at no tonal sacrifice in my little lab but hey that's just me.
