Tokai Certificate of authenticity.

Howzit guys.

I see the Tokai South Africa guy has been commenting on a few threads. I bought my Tokai SG88 MIJ from Paul Bothner a few months back. Unfortunately they lost the certificate of authenticity (the Serial checks out tho lol) I was wondering can anybody put me in contact with this oke. I sent a mail from the website but they havnt contacted me yet.

I would love to have the certificate of authenticity for my guitar.

BTW, we should get together and jam with all the Tokais (4 between you, me and Singemonkey) and you can try out some tasty blues amps.

Also, what certificate of authenticity? Mine didn't come with one either (was ~~second~~ third hand though). Not that it matters, it ain't goin' nowhere.

Sounds leke man, ja its supposed to come with one. I just wanna keep it in the safe for one day you know. its always rad having something real old and still have the paperwork ? ?

I bought my SG88 new from Lance/Tokai SA, and didn't get any case candy. So news to me.

Clues that a brand has "made it": People want certificates of authenticity. Nice. ?

kinda weird though, I mean if someone went to the effort of making a fake it would be a simple thing to fake a certificate of authenticity as well....how much faith can one put in these certificates anyway....forging a cerifiicate infinitely easier than forging a whole guitar.

I think it's about case candy, not authenticity. But if I recall, RobbieZ also didn't get any, so sounds like Tokai don't bother with such frivolities 8) ?

Y'all can laugh at me for this, but I got this Vintage Pre-1938 German M. Hohner "THE ECHO HARP" (in the key of C) from my grandad, and it had its certificate of authenticity with it. It was always real cool to have it. So i always thought if i had to pass something on when i grew old i would like to have the case candy you know.. its just a personal thing.

I received a warranty card with my tokai, I guess this is a certificate of authenticity in the real world.

Ha, I keep forgetting I have 2 of them, the second one was brand new with plastic and tags. No certificate on that one either.

Correct ICM, that is all that comes with a guitar. I have bought 4 Tokai's brand new, and that's all you get, a Warranty Card with serial numbers and details of the guitar ,,,, that's it !!! I'm happy ...... ?

I doubt Lance would have it. The guys who lost it would be Bothners. Probably when people were coming in and out of the store looking at that same guitar.

Breaking news, I've just started a new business, I'm selling Tokai 'case candy' lucky packets through the 'Sweets from Heaven' franchise.

In the Tokai 'Case Candy' packet, you get, a Tokai cloth, a Tokai pick, a Warranty card and an 'Allen' key...the cost of the packet depending on what Tokai model you own averages out at between R15,000.00 and R20,000.00.

I believe that this brand is so popular that Gibson are reproducing a few of their models. I would be somewhat concerned about the quality though. ?

On a serious note.

Never leave a Warranty card with a Music Store in SA, they will definitely lose it.

Even more crazy.
Never leave an empty case with the warranty card in the case in a Music Store in SA, because, they will sell the case (with the beautiful Tokai metal badge on it) to a customer looking to buy an LP, ES, or SG case, and the customer will throw away the warranty card.
Every week I get phone calls from certain Music Stores, "we sold a guitar but we can't find the case, we've searched everywhere in the store and we just can't find it"....errr, the guitar came with a case and you sold it....60 days later I get paid for the empty case they sold.

I got Tokai to send me some extra Warranty Cards for certain models to replace the 'lost' ones.
The Warranty card is in Japanese because Tokai are not an export company.

True, never got a certificate or a warrantee card. Never felt the need for one either. The one time I had a small issue, Lance helped immediately. There is one guy you can trust,

Many times people want to know when their guitar was manufactured and where. Would have been nice if there were a standard custom to put this on the guitar somewhere. Like they do with violins
