Another idea is to attach two strips of wood/metal on either side of the amp that swivel backwards for the amp to rest on.
+1. That's the Fender tilt-back amp legs. Like this:
Real simple way to do it - a strip of steel and a stop washer on either side of the amp. Folds away discretely when not in use. You should be able to get a few different sizes from Fender.
I found a collapsible tri-pod that you place your amp on at Marshal. It has a few settings for the rear leg that alter the angle.
The nice things about amp stands are they raise smaller amps up closer to you and tilt them too. You get a variety of amp stands from most stand manufacturers. I use an x-brace one (similar to a keyboard stand) for my rack to raise it and tilt it towards me:
I also got a boom attachment that holds a mic in place in front of the speaker.
Y'know, I tried that with LP Claws (used for clamping mics to drums) years back and found I was getting all kinds of resonances messing with the mic's frequency response. So I still prefer a good old fashioned mic floor stand.
