  • Friday...funny (Never mind the Buzzcocks)

Been watching a good few of these lately, mostly UK & Pop orientated, but the host & guests can be very entertaining. This one with Frankie Boyle hosting had me laughing throughout. NFSW warning for language & Frankie's style of humour, it has been described as a bit brutal.

What a show ? Frankie Boyle is such a king :roflmao: :roflmao:

I really enjoyed the show when Simon Amstell hosted it

Jip Frankie is the best. ?
Simon Amstell was by far the best host that show has had.

Ok that's a lie, it is consistently brilliant.
Love NMTB and Frankie Boyle, so I will definitely be checking this one out ?

Also watch Mock The Week if you dig Frankie ? He's on it up until about season 6 or so ?
            Ahhh, some fellow fans :goodtimes:

NMTB S23E11 also has Frankie hosting - thought S24e12 was a little better. There was a episode with Simon Amstel hosting Stephen Fry as a captain, that was prettyyy good one too. Prefer Mark Lemarr though - he's also fairly caustic, along the lines of Jimmy Carr.

All in all a super watchable show...the intro's game constantly kicks my ass - I can never get 'em, boggles my mind when they do get 'em right. I tried a few times to sing the intro of a tune, and their skills impress me even more - I suspect practice prior to the show :-\

1st saw Frankie while trawling through the outtakes of Mock the Week...which are (imho) brilliant. There was a full show he did (Edinburgh?) that was -enlightening- :?

              I've watched NMTB for years.

Lamarr was good, but was phoning it in by his last couple of series (he did 17 series). He was especially good when Bill Baily was captain - nice banter between them.

Amstell was consistently good, but a bit too caustic and edgy to stay (they were running into legal issues regularly and were beginning to struggle to book people). Amstell was especially good with his snappy comebacks (not quite as good as Jimmy Carr is on 8 of 9 Cats, but still very quick and clever).

Not sure about Rhod Gilbert as the new host - he's good, but seems like a bit of a "safe" choice.

I should have known you'd have excellent taste in viewing! Lemarr did 17 series...holy poop - I only watched a few from S14, I'll dig deeper to see what he was like in the earlier ones.

Thanks to you I went and viewed a few of 8 of cats - gawd, I felt intellectually challenged, pressing pause just to work out the letters/numbers ?

Jimmy Carr is good as usual on that - my favourite quiz show of his the the annual "The Big Fat Quiz of the Year", there a few with Russel Brand and Noel Fielding teamed up, that are grand viewing.
I love the British comedy panel shows - they're the closest thing to good old-fashioned British TV comedy and a good place to seek out up and coming comedians.

QI too, which appeals to both my inner and outer nerd. If you don't mind hearing about Brit politics and events Have I Got News For You (often HIGNFY on YouTube) and Mock the Week are both highly recommended.

Thats 8 Out of Nine Cats Does Countdown - the same panel of comedians using the Countdown format - a long-running and rather dry, quizlike show. At the risk of sounding chauvinist, I have developed quite a crush on Rachel Riley too.

Yeah, both have an abstract, sometimes surrealist or Dada approach to humour. Russell Brand, I don't like his standup, but seeing his interviews and "Trews" has made me realise he has a very intelligent and agile mind hidden behind the mania.
