sorry delete please
Why?
I suppose the consumer has the right to be offended by exorbitant price hikes by manufacturers. >☹
I also believe in moderated freedom of speech in expressing that dissatisfaction and believe every one has the right to express their views.
In my opinion this thread does exactly that and hopefully manufacturers and retailers sit up and take note.
As an individual it is a simple choice. don't buy new or go alternative brands.
Hopefully one day the youngsters on this forum can say that they KNEW gibson guitar if it continues as it is going now ☹
No sorry, not the thread just my post! I posted something and felt it might not be appropriate to this thread.
I saw your post as you posted it and I thought it was a welcome sliver of light in a very gloomy thread.
Gibsons are still beautiful instruments despite what the guys at the top say or do
On that note, take a moment to look at this beautiful instrument and take another moment to mourn the fact that we may be losing this heritage
Naah, that part of their heritage will always be there. The list of great songs, iconic players and awesome tones created with Gibson Les Pauls are just too long, and it's influence is just to great to be able to talk Guitar based music without it. That part of the Gibson Les Paul's heritage is assured and it's place in history is secure. They've made some damn fine instruments through the years and still do - albeit as Singe pointed out at a price nowadays! ?
That part of their heritage is also the reason folks like me still hanker for one even though we know there are far more sensible alternatives available. The sad thing though is that whatever they do today will form part of their heritage for future generations, and will become another part of what they will be remembered for. Which would be fine if they didn't seem hellbent on sacrificing the goodwill that part of their heritage has earned them for short term profits. The baby named Gibson might have had an amazing childhood and it seemed to recover nicely from it's troublesome teenage years. But he is now becoming a real a-hole in his adult life and I see him growing old aloof, unloved, alone and bitter some day.
Chris77's hopefully awesome guitar playing grandchildren will one day have a whole other view of Gibson than what I had....
