Alan, yes, the spalted quilt is a veneer on top of the maple cap. Also it is a 25" scale. As for the neck, it is a single piece mahogany, wide neck. It isn't a fat neck (at least not compared to the PRS Santana that I got), but not a thin neck either (at least not compared to Ibanez wizard necks).
Also, I like the neck join as well.
