Hi Guys, I am looking at getting my first multi FX pedal and looking at the boss me25 as that is in my price range and also has a usb interface for recordin...

which ever brand/model you choose make sure it has a looper on board and usb recording,some older ones only have usb editing of effects
You'll be more than happy... till the time comes and you want to get individual devices
but for most people, that combination will suffice for ages
Gumtree has a few on and off,
be patient..I saw a digitech RP500 for R1500 this month..didnt last long though... LOL
As Alan said, most new mfx's are good enough with all the bells and whistles...
If you get to the stage that you start splitting hairs by saying that this delay is better than this reverb or worse than that other echo.....try a different pick or change to sound engineering..
Distortion is another story....what do you wanna play? metal,blues or alternative...
then it will depend if you want bedroom sound or stage sound....
and it goes on...

It also has a basic 6 sec looper...
If we look at the year it was released,it was way ahead of its time for the price...
even the later 707II... with a expandable looper up to 128mb on a smart card...

Hi guys only saw this thread now. I'm surprised that no-one mentioned the Vox Tonelab stuff. I'm caught between deciding between a Vox Tonelab EX and Boss ME70. I saw the Boss GT-8 at thegearjunkie but having had a GT-6 and absolutely didn't like it. Very processed sound.

The Tonelabs were great when they came out, but they've been dumbing them down with each new release to be simpler but less capable.

I have had the POD HD400, loved it but the live performance control options never match the Boss stuff, not even the older GT10. It switches too slowly between patches for me and i really expected more from Line 6 in this regard.

I now have a Boss GT100 and once i got into it, it is definitely better than the POD HD- yeah i know some would argue but then they haven't understood how it works. Control on the GT100 is way ahead of Line 6 and the patch change speed is ridiculously fast and clitchless. They have released the ver 2 firmware with added ehancements and a few new effect models as well as a Bogner Uberchal amp model and an Orange Rockverb model- awesome but you must know how to get this tone, even tube amps sound like shit if you set them crap.
What sets the GT100 apart from the GT10, besides sounding more ampy, is that it is very responsive to your playing dynamics.
This is the area in which the Digitech RP's are weaker than the Line 6 POD HD and Boss GT100 .

I guess different models have their flaws. I sold my ME-50 because patch changing was too slow. There was a definite period of silence in between patches which made live playing almost impossible. I don't have that issue on my POD HD400.

Hey doc-phil,

I found that depending what your patches consisted of on the HD400 there was a lag, very small but too much for me. The amp sim section seems to come into play pretty quickly but you will notice if your next patch has a delay etc, there is a slight lapse before it comes into play. Yes the HD400 is quite passable but once you've patch changed on a GT100 you appreciate the processor power. To top it off you have 2 channels per patch and to get that from a Line 6 you need the HD500 and that pricing is just laughable, I don't know where the hell they get to justify that amount of money. The Boss, Line 6 battle continues and I'm sure it will continue forever lol

Check out the new overdrive on the GT100 ver 2 firmware, wicked!!!!!!!

I guess it comes down to personal preference. I'm sure there are many people that could make them sound really good. The brand just doesn't do it for me.
I'm aiming to buy the new Zoom G3 Which, apparently, is the bees knees!
I had the G2.1Nu before and was quite impressed! Looking forward to the delivery!
