Hey guys.
Without mentioning names, I've taken my guitar to 2 techs in 2 different shops and have gotten the same results. Not happy. I have a feeling I'm going to have to mention the techs though.
Heck, I've set-up the guitars better myself. Less buzz and all. Problem comes in with levelling the frets, I don't have the tools and don't really trust myself ?
The 1st set-up was good in the sense that the tech radiused my bridge. After that its like he just adjusted the action and told me the buzz is part of an electric being and electric. Now I Understand when playing hard and digging in it can buzz, but when having a light touch it shouldn't buzz... Plus I told him that around the 12-15 frets the notes tend to die out within a second or 2. some strings it rings for a while, some it doesn't, which leads me to believe it frets out. Came back the same way. So I don't believe anything was done to the frets.
Now I decided to try another shop and they basically got the action really low (I dont mind a slightly higher action, in fact I raised it myself a little), but now I have buzz all over the neck (not like before, and it got a little better with higher action) and I still have notes fretting out.
In this instance, I told him about my buzz issues and notes dying and he remarked that the previous tech didn't level dress the frets. Funny cause my guitar came back worse in terms of buzz....
In terms of the 2nd set-up, it was done last week, and I'm thinking of taking it back and getting them to take a look at it again and re do the guitar. I literally feel like they did nothing but lower my action, and straighten my neck (very little relief)
Basically I'm looking for someone that will do a proper Job. Hopefully not a music shop cause I feel like 2 bad experiences and they just trying to get guitars out... I need someone that will actually take care, get rid of all the issues and hopefully this damn buzz. I have a feeling its my nut (No open sting buzz, but now that i got it back my G string is buzzing open)
