Squonk Hi I am looking to acquire a Nylon Electro Acoustic with cutaway that does not require a huge budget. I am not too sure of the models that are available in RSA. But am starting to posibly fancy a Cort, as there are so many fans of Cort on GFSA, I was hoping for some advice. Possibly up to 5K if possible.
CDee You can have a look at the Ibanez AEG10NE aswell. Nice guitars, not sure of the price but less than R3000.00
AlanRatcliffe The Corts you can pick up at very good prices - you can sometimes find the electric acoustics secondhand for R1500. However they are not great - nylons just don't seem to be their forte. I have a decent old, Ibanez with no pickup and am happy with it for now - It seems like every time I go looking for something better, the only ones that grab me turn out to be over 15K and I can't justify that for a nylon. A Godin solidbody is on my (long) shopping list, but that's in the same unjustifiable price range for now. So yes, +1 on the Ibanez nylons.
Keira-WitherKay yes don't forget the tanglewood guitars...they have a nylon thin body ...no wider than a semi acoustic.... but loud enough to play unplugged.....that i tried at andy mc gibbons..... and for a cheapie...it sounded awesome.... also has a cutaway and a pickup.... any cheap guitar especially nylon will not be top drawer but that tanglewood sounds great ...and i agree with allan re the cort not being great... one of my guitar students has one and it looks great but sounds thin with no tone at all..... and with discount i think you can get the tanglewood for about R1700..... it was marked R2300.... and if one store won't give you a great price try the others heheheh they all desparate to make sales these days..... and most can get the guitar you want. so even try in one store and oreder it from another...but remember to try the guitar you ordered before you buy it....all guitars of he same model are not made equal .... so yeah nylons if youcan stretch your budget to say R4000 with a good discount you could get a great guitar but below that they all pretty dodge..... or buy second hand...if you have ready cash and not using the credit card..... that way you maybe get a few dings but you get a way better guitar for same money peace and light Keira
CDee @Squonk - Sorry to revive an old thread... But I thought you might be interested. Saw it on JHB Gumtree this morning. http://johannesburg.gumtree.co.za/c-Stuff-for-Sale-musical-instruments-ibanez-nylon-string-guitar-W0QQAdIdZ122278049 ?
