Well last week I sold some gear that I had been wanting to off load and bought a 1936 National Style 0 resonator 14 fret. 2 days later I found and acquired a 1933 national Style 0 12 fret resonator.
Have been playing the 1936 and its an interesting guitar different tone, great with slide.
The 1933 needs some work, this guitar has really seen action, it was owned by one person since new and his son sold it.
New cone on its way, will replace the binding and the fretboard has grooves one could park a car in plus the frets are really worn out. I have decided to try and keep it as original as possible an will set the action higher for slide. I am reluctant to sand down the board and may just get Andy McGibbon to replace the top 5 frets what are your opinions on this.
By the way National guitars in the states are great to deal with, I ordered a new bone nut, screws binding, cones (vintage spec) and they i gave me luthier discount rates as its a restoration project.
Parts are on the way, looking forward to the rest of the project.

That's awesome! So you have both an earlier one, suited for slide and blues as well as a later one for your fingerpicking? Round or square necks? Chickenfoot or diamond coverplates? PICTURES?
Replacing the necks on those is pretty easy and National can supply a vintage replica neck. So it might be a good idea to leave the neck stock, remove it and store safely and fit a new neck to make it a player.

Will do pics always battle with that aspect.
Both round necks, 33 is diamond and 36 chicken feet.

The week you have just has is my fantasy... Photos needed!
Tell us more about where & how you got hold of them. I would be very careful about doing any work on them, but lets see the pics first.

I always battle putting pics on the forum assistance required here.
Work on the guitar is being done very carefully, I aim to keep it as original as possible.
Parts on the way from National, new binding for the neck, new dot markers old ones missing, new cone original missing. Neck is down to bare wood from age and wear some small areas still have original finish not much.

Well I finally got to test the 33 Style 0 Last night. had to reship my spares via courier. original order still in the post. By the time I get those they will be aged and vintage.
What a nice resonator, diffrent tone to the 36 Style 0 due to a longer body. I have kept it as original as I could, left the wear on the board and only changed what I had to.
Will be playing it for a few days before final adjustments are done. One happy guitar player.
