So the time comes for every artist where some promoter/festival needs a high resolution photograph for promotion. The time for us came recently, I started planning by looking at what the "big" bands have done in the past. By doing a Google Search you'll find a very linear approach to how its done. Find some woods/trees, pose as a group, shoot, edit. And we initially did that, but unhappy with the results (looking like every other band out there) I went back to drawing board and equipped with a camera, lighting and green room facilities (which we are fortunate to have available to us for no cost) - started shooting.
I was the guy positioning the camera and lights, activating the camera timer, and running for dear life to make the shot ?
This is one finished editing thus far.
So what are your experiences with band photoshoots? I find them quite important, someone who can "see" who they are hiring for a gig is more likely to hire than simply hiring some unknown behind a phone or email.
