Repairable or not?

Hi all, just posting another topic straight after agian.

Before I make up my mind whether I should get this deal or not.....
The solid top of the guitar has a crack as you can see.

The owner says it doesn't affect the sound at all, does it or not? I have a friend who tells me that it'll change a lot with that crack especially on sustain??

Secondly, is this a repairable crack?

anything is repairable, question is will it be worth it?

It would probably change the tone , but my ears would probably not be able to discern the change anyway.

Play it and decide for yourself, hard to judge from a computer screen ?

If you seriously decide you want to fix it, get a quote first before buying.

I would also try haggle that price A LOT, guitar loses a lot of value with a crack.

repairing a crack in the sound board to make it functional is not expensive .....and in all respects i doubt one would notice a tonal change at all.....

the expensive repair is to make the crack invisible which would mean a re finish and big bucks....

i think it gives a guitar character to be a bit "roadworn" and would just fix the crack to stop it splitting further and leave the scar ....

Some guitar players pay big bucks for old and roadworn guitars. I would not have it fixed but leave it as is. As said above you will not hear a sound difference, it might even be better than original. Play, bring the price down(you need to fix it as excuse) and buy it if price and sound are ok

I wouldn't, unless you get it for a seriously good price as epictring has said. Good midrange guitars already go for very low prices on the s/h market.

Not hard/serious to repair, but cost will depend on any additional damage inside - damaged or popped braces, etc.

Can we see a picture of the crack?
Does it run along the grain or across it?
Is it a wide crack? or is there very little space between the two edges?
