Hey, got on a great website yesterday.
www.tabcrawler.com
Hi, Carmen.
Tabcrawler's not bad. I agree with Gearhead that there are some dodgy tabs out there, but for a beginner its cool to point you in the right direction. With experience, and as you progress, you'll start picking up by ear when someone's put the wrong chord in a tab.
Then you'll know you're on your way. Try to avoid looking for a tab immediately though. Good way to train your ear is to spend some time trying to figure the chords out. But you're bound to come across songs where your chord vocabulary will simply not be big enough yet to find the right chord. In those cases the tab will not only help you figure out how to play the song, but also teach you a new chord in the process. Win-win situation.
I've been trawling the tab sites for many years now, and these are some of the ones I like:
My favourite (ie. best chance of an accurate tab):
http://www.e-chords.com/
(Don't worry about the log in thing. It'll let you download about ten or so for free. After that, just log on to a different site and then go back. It'll read you as a new user).
Other good ones:
http://www.xguitar.com/
http://www.guitartabs.cc/
http://www.chordie.com/
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/
(good site, but lots of annoying pop-ups and ads)
http://www.tabs.co.za/
(Contains many RSA songs - English & Afrikaans)

I haven't tried this GuitarPro stuff but I suspect the tabs in that format are better.
I use guitarpro, and the tabs are good. Essentially a midi sound file with tab/notation for every instrument available. But you need to buy proprietary software to play and display it.

Hope this helps you a bit.
Shout if you need anything else.
