You'll make more money selling yourself. If you sell via a shop the shop will take a cut. I see a lot of artists setting up their own boutique labels and very deliberately marketting at gigs. I'm told that on the bluegrass circuit in the USA a lot of bands just bypass the retail chains completely and sell self-financed CDs at gigs and do nicely out of it.
I think he said hes done/doing that and wants to step it up a notch,
I mean ,I think they dont gig every day but would like their cd's available every day at a retail level
Also...Bluegrass/USA and anything in RSA is like comparing Mars and Earth,its only a dream
