Few keyboard players on GuitarForumSA ?

Hi all, just curious to find out how many keyboard players there are on GuitarForumSA. Placed an add a few days ago looking for a keyboard player and didn't any response. I know they are scares and possibly all playing in a band already.
Anyone available ?

On the guitar forum they're probably as rare as drummers... :-\
I've also advertised to gumtree frequently, as I'd love to have a keyboard player in my blues band.
Unfortunately they are rare as chicken teeth ☹

Ja - thin on the floor, good ones have always been fairly rare and tend more to classical, show tunes or jazz, rather than rock. Even the rockier ones tend more to prog. Had a great one in one band I was in, but when we lost him, we struggled for a replacement for years. I married one, but she's more a piano player than a Hammond abuser.

I can talk keys and am up on MIDI, sequencing, synthesis and sampling, but never learned to tickle the ivories. I might have done, but someone invented the guitar synth...

I've been playing piano about 10 years. But like you guys say I'm more on the classical side. Happy to give anything a go though. Pretty decent at improv, jazz/blues etc.

I play kb! Played guitar first but a few years ago my band at the time wanted some keys and I started learning. I play synth and piano tones in a folk rock band now. My guitars are getting dusty, which I feel guilty for, but I really just discovered a larger passion for synthesis (at least for the moment).

I have very little classical training though.

I'm still leaning a bit towards the classical side, but my inner groove comes out somedays...

i think you're always gonna find either classically trained dudes, or more self-taught dudes, like myself. with the classical chaps, or gals, it's that same old issue that raises itself even with guitarists; hard to break out of the training in most cases. finding a classical pianist who'll give you a groove is difficult - it's just all the training and practice is hard to break through. then there's the other side of the coin, someone like me who's self-taught, knows next to squat about applicable theory, can't keep up with the key changes, probably won't practice between jams, has nothing but a 15-year old technics keyboard that's about as reliable as he is and to top it all off has a repertoire to rival the sum of all rational arguments juju has ever managed to put together.

it's tough finding a good instrumentalist, regardless of the instrument. but finding a keyboard player is a nightmare, from what i've picked up. glad you've found yours. i've only ever used my questionable keyboard/piano skills in the background, glad i'm primarily a guitar player, and a marginal one at that...
