Bit of help here guys... (forum related)

Hi all

It has become impossible for Norio, Rene and I to read every single post in a thread (or even every thread) anymore. This means that we occasionally miss a post or thread that is in violation of the site rules or only see it a while later.

Please:
So please - If you see a post that you feel breaks the rules or is in bad taste: REPORT IT. At the bottom right of every post is a link: "Report to moderator" which sends us a message via email and gives you a chance to comment privately to us about it.

Please do not:
- Respond to the post in the thread. This just means that if we delete the post, we have to delete or edit your post too.
- Reference the offending post in your post. Same reasons as above.
- Write a message to us in the thread. Unfortunately it doesn't help if we don't see the thread and will also need to be deleted if and when we clean out the offending post.

Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion, Norio, Rene and I don't roam the empty hallways of GFSA all day every day, waiting for posts to jump on them and scan for rule infractions and spam. The site is so busy now (and so are we) that it's difficult for us to read every single post in a thread (or even every thread) anymore. So we sometimes miss a post that we would need to take action on or only see it a while later.

After reading the above and a post of Rene's I am starting to get a worrying feeling about people on this forum, and even the moderators, having one of those "life" things that you read about from time to time.

How was this situation allowed to manifest?

Renesongs

Sorry for the misunderstanding Bob but when I said we have a life I of course meant that we live to serve you the GFSA members Lol ?

Understood, will do my best to help out boss ?

Ray

If I may interject, unless I have the cat by the b&!!$, maybe Bob D refers to posts like some of those which I have posted. When looking back I wondered what I was thinking using the forum as a personal journal or something. Humble apologies. Will refrain from getting carried away with nostalgic ramblings in the future. Anyway, have also presented apologies and resolve to one of the moderators as well.

?

Now many people are worried whether it was their comments which were the problem.
Could be good - make sure we all behave ourselves.
Never a bad thing.

Count me in!

Don't!! Those are the ones I enjoy reading!!

I think we're starting to make heavy water of simple issue. Message was just "use the link to report if you see something shaky", and Bob D was just being cheeky (in the nice sense ?).

Idea is clearly not to inhibit posts, but just to ensure we all help keeping it within broad parameters of GFSA rules (and not expect Mods to be the sole Big Brothers!!). So we're all cool!! :goodtimes:

Exactly! Sorry guys, I swooped in and out very quickly yesterday and just did the bare minimum and posted the original message quickly without agonising over details or considering my words as well as I could. Apologies for any misunderstandings - I will reword it now.

Indeed I was - or trying to. But attempts at on-line humour can often miss their mark, and you'd think I'd have learned that lesson by now. It most certainly was not my intent to take a tiilt at Ray, or at any other poster who livens up their postings with personal anecdotes.

My apologies to all and any offended persons.

MoJo JoJoe wrote Hi All. It was me that made the trouble yesterday relating to some sort of guidelines for Classifieds. I should have rather PM'd Alan and Norio instead of making my comment on the forum, and as a result Alan had to change some of the posts on that for sale thread. I am happy to take the wrap and have heard from Alan via PM about it.
What is fantastic news though is that Alan has taken action and amended the rules to also include some guidelines for the Classifieds and I for one am both very happy and grateful that this change has come about. Now instead of making comments on the thread, I can report the offender for breaking the rules since negative comments on "for sale" threads are now formally covered.
Wonderful!! We take a step forward in our evolution and we're all better off for it. Thanks Alan for seeing the benefits of what I was suggesting, even if I made the suggestion in the wrong form.

Excellent! Job well done.
