Anyone have experience with this type of "mod". I have a 7 String Jack & Danny brothers guitar which is my project/experiment guitar. It's got a licensed FR. How do I go about doing this. I was thinking of two ways:
1] While the strings are on , try and insert a wooden block that would fit snuggly in the opening, and once this is done, fine tune the strings that may have gone #.
OR ....
2] Remove the strings. Insert a wooden block after I have made sure that the bridge is paralel with the body, then restring?
Any ideas?

I think it depends whether you want to restring anyway ?
I'd want to make sure the block is a snug fit; if the bridge is set up as full floating (why else have a FR?) the string tension might make life difficult for measuring and fitting.
Why not release the lock nut and detune until you see the bottom of the bridge sit on the guitar top? That way you get the best of both methods.
