That's usually the value I get from such lists - there's always somebody I haven't heard. Sometimes there's an entry that makes me reconsider my views on somebody or other. I think nearly everybody finds something to disagree with in lists of the 100 best... or 50 best... or even 1000 best... (though these are not "best", more like "essential"), but that doesn't mean they're a waste of time. This one doesn't rank the recordings, so that preempts some of the heat because we don't have to argue about whether
Rubber Soul was better than
Revolver.
