Here's a pic I took last week in the north of Malawi. These guys had built their own guitars. One out of a galvanized iron bucket or bath and the other with goat skin. My mate and I stopped and had a bit of a jam with them. We had our guitars with us, Jurie his Crafter acoustic and I had 'Oscar' my Hohner G2 and my Micro Cube on battery power. What a gas

That is awesome ! How was they fret spacing and tuning ?

Love the drive and creative spirt , the world needs more of that.

It just underlines that need is a growth bed for innovation! ? these guys are prolly more creative than the average guitarist around and most likely conjure the most original approach with their instruments. Thanks for sharing.

There didn't seem to be any attempt to place the frets in their correct positions but that is obviously because the guys don't have access to information (internet etc) and are not aware. The actions were horrific by our standards and the strings were made from unravelled steel cable. Very impressive. We gave the one chap a set of used strings. (Cheapskates, I know)
