Voodoo Explorer Finish

Hi All

Please help me....Does anybody know how Gibson did the finish on the Voodoo series they brought out in 2002? I know it's made of swamp ash, but how did they manage to "paint it black" but keep the grain red? I'll try posting a pic, but my "additional options" seem to have been cut down????

I would take a wild geuss and say that they stained to wood red, sanded of a bit to leave the red in the grains, spray it lightly black?? dont know ???

Other way round - they use a black paint, then use a red grain filler - an interesting take on double-stained ash. Usually you have the grain the darker colour and use a transparent shader over the top (like my red Tele/Strat).
