Display case ideas

So... Since I have a blue Epiphone Les Paul that has a damaged neck and is not very playable and is going to cost more than it's really worth to repair...I am thinking of doing something like this:

And putting it on display somewhere cos it's a very pretty guitar (IMO) and it's currently just sitting in a hardcase.

I've also seen flight cases modified for display. The lid panel replaced with clear perspex and the whole case mounted on the wall. Also put a strap across the neck so the guitar doesn't fall out if you open the lid. ?

I am planning the same for one of my explorers...
Stewmac sells "kits" for display cases, but the prices are insane. Luckilly there's enough info on the webpage in relation to sizes etc. so you should be able to build one yourself.

$399!!! That's more than I paid for the guitar... lol... I'm reasonably handy... sure I'll come up with something... will draw up the specs and take pics and put up here when I get round to it.

Just make a simple box/case?? It's nowhere near $399 to make..... It's not even $39.90 ??? ???

My old man just finished 2 jewellery cases the perfect size. Velvet back, Perspex front and hinged door. It'll work perfectly.
