Matt
Names Matt, stay in the Cape Town area.
I recently inherited a couple of guitars from a family member when the moved overseas and have been trying to learn ever since. Done some research on the guitar’s and they seem to be fairly decent. Hoping to also learn a lot from this forum ???

Welcome Matt!!!!!
What can I say.....stay away from the GAS dude....whatever you do....staaaay awaaaaay from the GAS! If you feel GAS coming on run, really just run..don't look back! RUN!
Argh what am I saying, it's a futile pathetic attempt to run. It's gonna get you anyways.
Matt
Cool thanks for the hospitality everyone, It’s a ’67 or ‘69 Gibson J50 Deluxe and a old Tama classical and a Squire Obey Tele...
The thing is I cant really play any of them very well… It’s the most frustrating thing in the world.
Will try post some pics of them soon.
Oh and GAS??? someone please explain???

Gear Acquisition Syndrome .... bad for your financial health....but you'll feel it soon enough..be assured of that
Matt
Fair enough... I spotted a Marshall Amp the other day that I am itching to buy, but I think I will wait till I am little bit skilled. Wouldn't want an amp like that to gather dust for no reason.

Welcome aboard dude, I wish I could inherit some guitars! Practise, practise, practise, you'll get there man. Maybe look at getting a teacher, it really speeds up the process. You have come to the right place, any questions you have, throw them at us, no job too big or too small!

Howzit Matt. I'm also quite new here so I wont present as one of the welcoming party. Just a warning, there are people here that want to make you play scales and arpegios and things.

Welcome Matt. I wish I could inherit a Gibson!! Life is unfair.
Beware, there is something worse than GAS. It is called GMS (Guitar Modification Syndrome) - this one can turn really violent and cause severe harm to wallet and body parts.

Welcome namesake! Looks like you got a head start with the guits you ''inherited''. Lucky you.
Keep at it, it's definately worth it.
Matt
Thanks Matt will def keep up with it...
Werner I think the GMS has set in already... I want to change the pick ups in my squier, Got a single coil (not sure of brand) and a duncan design humbucker but I want to try change them to get a more crunchier sound... So after I know a little more and play a lot better I think I will be looking at changing them around a bit.

Hi and welcome Matt. Perhaps begin with the classical guitar while you're learning, coz the electric guitars are just gonna swallow your wallet :'(
