I don't have custom moulded ones but I always use plugs. I got some Vater ones. I can hear nice and clearly with them, although they do gut some high end, I can pretty much always hear myself and the band.
Music Connection have them on the front counter at the moment.
+1, got the same plugs. I imagine they are not nearly as sweet as the 1964's babbalute mentions nor the Shure's Warren uses - but better than *trying* going to sleep with that infernal ringing in your ears.
At the last Cpt GFSA jam, I was the nerd using a set. If I see acoustic drums or a 2k+ PA - or working with power tools - I pull 'em out. From a misspent youth in dingy clubs with crappy sound I'm hyper sensitive to certain sounds. ???
Custom plugs are a excellent idea - Protect-a-ear in Pretoria do custom molded plugs (sans drivers, but I believe they can build them in) for a extremely reasonable price too. Pop in to audiologist, get a molding made and send them up to them.
