I am so sorry, man. I always complain because people get our name wrong (every time!) I will fix this.

Is everyone cool with us donating our share of the proceedings to The West Rand Association for People with Disabilities?

They do little shows using a portable PA once in a while for their fundraisers and events. They sing to backtracks and all kind of stuff, it's not so pleasing to the ears but it keeps them motivated and warms their little hearts and those who love them. recently their Portable PA broke and they don't have the funds for a new one, they have gotten it fixed a couple of times and I've seen the condition of this thing, there is no hope for it. Let's see if we can raise enough funds to buy a new one.

What do you think??????

Why don't a % of the money go to the acts performing on the night? Using the funds to support GFSA musicians seems more related to the GFSA-forum. I am however in full support of a charity donation.

Only realised now there is an entrance fee.

Just a suggestion, I don't really mind either way.

Well, I like the idea of doing good and I always feel making a small amount of money for each band with these gigs doesn't cover anything anyway. But hey, that might just be me. I feel the fact that we can move, hear and see is a gift on it's own, that's why I thought of these guys.

Also if we do this a local music shop chain (Can I mention their name here?) is willing to sponsor a couple of grand towards give-a ways etc if we buy the PA from them once we have enough money (if we raise enough money). I'm seeing them on Friday to discuss the logistics.

Next time we gig together, we will make millions and split the cash ?

If you guys think I'm being dumb here and you would rather have the cash, speak now or forever hold your peace.

I have two comments to make :
I think it might be better to start earlier as it's a Sunday and with these things everything always runs late. No one wants to stay till 11 to watch bands on a Sunday and some people have work the next day. I intend to be there from start to end, so I think starting earlier could be more convenient.
I'm quite happy with donating all the entrance money to charity as it has more of an impact than giving every performer a few hundred rand.
Either way, I think it will be a cool event!

Registered charity? If so, yup... Otherwise, it might as well be going to the RF-EAR (Ratcliffe Foundation for the Enrichment of Alan Ratcliffe). ?

I still need to figure out this charity thing, The potencial sponsor wants us to buy from them once we have raised the funds, but I don't think there is a way we could raise the sort of money they want for a specific portable PA, but as I said I'm seeing them on Friday to discuss all of that. I'm sure the charity I have in mind is registered, I will get details from them too.

I also think starting earlier would be nice, it would make sense for the venue too as everyone might eat lunch. the other alternative is to try and get both stages and split the bands 5 on one stage and 5 on the other, this will eliminate setup times as one band sets up while the other plays on the other stage. then we start at 2 and end at 8? we can even start at 1 and end at 7, then everyone can be home in time for the 8 o' clock movie. lol

I'll speak to the relevant parties.

Thanks, you are welcome. Once I have annoyed the venue and Heart of Music to the point where they don't reply to my questions any more, I'll pas the buck to someone else. Lol

the only thing I can ask for in return is for everyone to support the event. Hopefully by Friday I will have enough information to put an end to this thread (it's getting to long) and start a new tread with all the details in one spot.
