First steel acoustic

I have finally acquired a steel string acoustic.

Got this from Gear Junkie yesterday.
I have a love of wood and grain and therefore absolutely love the looks.

Tone and playability are very personal & this one hit my spot very badly.
It was also one of the cheaper guitars in the shop.
I was busy giving it some serious thought; when Manny independently tried it out and prodded me to consider it.
At which point my GAS went mad and I set out to get it.
I got a great deal and now probably owe Graham at Gear Junkie some favours.

I don't have an acoustic amplifier, but find it works great at low volume into my Elk-ish Princeton.

The pattern in the wood on the back looks like the font for most metal bands.

Neck has got some spalty bits on it.
But the headstock is deliciously spalted.

Is it strong enough? Usually spalted wood is incredibly soft and weak.
I assume the headstock is a deliciously spalted veneer.
