The patrons / age group / demograph of that specific venue happen to be the target market for the type of music Diamond Dogs plays.
Am I correct in saying that the place was chocablock full ? Probably was....
My 2c : Don't burn your bridges with that venue . Eat humble pie and go there asap to 'make good' with them . :-[
I get your point Joel, but in this case, I'm not gonna eat any humble pies. Like I said, I have played at this venue with various bands over the last few years, but not on a regular basis. At most 4-5 gigs per year, so it's not as if I need this place to survive.
Your statement about eating humble pie is exactly the sort of thing every full-time musician has to put up with on a regular basis 'cos it is expected of us to be nice and be thankful for being able to have a place to perform. It's almost as if we as pro-musicians must feel "guilty" about the fact that we play music for a living.
Sorry, not this time mate, this guy blatantly tried to f*ck us over and like Sheron said, choose your battles.....so I chose to do battle with him and stick to what I believed (and still believe) was right. That to me, is worth far more than getting onto his stage 4 times a year.
It really won't be hard for me to replace the 4 gigs per year that I now sacrificed.
