Hartlike welkom!
What kind of tuner is it? One of those with the speaker thingamagiggys? Thooooose can be a real pain in the hiney if it's not completely quiet in the room from what I've seen now. Fiddled with one Saturday night at a friend's trying to get his son's lectric tuned while he was fiddling on the keyboard and the TV was on in the next room....big eish! Maybe try it in a quiet room.
If it's one of the clipon magodies it should be a walkover. Slap it on the headstock and hack at a string, I like to pluck and just wait a split to read the tuner. Tune the string a little and if you're loosening trying to get it to drop a few frequencies you might need to sometimes just pull or push on the string a little, especially with small changes as sometimes the strings might be a little sticky over the nut and going under the tree.
Remember to go through all the strings a few times, if they were way off you might actually find some dropping as tension on the neck increases or decreases. But ya normally if you went through once and pluck the one you started on and it's good it should all be good. If it's off, just run through em all again.
Did I get that right? :sorry:

Hi and welcome Carmen. Even with an electronic tuner it could be a bit overwhelming until someone demonstrates the tuning sequence to you, and even with the digital tuner I'll sometimes find imperfections in the overall tuning and fiddle a little afterwards until I'm happy and all the strings are tuned. ?

Thanks. Yesterday I didn't tune my guitar properly.
Today I had more patience and I got it right.
Played a little bit.
I've also sort of made my own tune, although I'm not done with it yet... 8)

Tune your guitar again and again and again... :?
there's nothing wrong with a perfectly tuned guitar. ?

The Mechasonic link that Riaan C gives above is excellent I think. Bite size lessons and well presented for a beginner. If you like you can get "Total Guitar" mag #184. Not completely my taste in music covered (but some is good for me) but they have a first guitar lesson which looks good at first glance and also something on maintenance for beginners.

Thanks for the website, Riaan.
The things they mention there are very interesting.
Some of it I didn't even know!
