Seagulls are those squeaks you get when your fingers graze the strings. I was wondering if this is string specific or guitar specific. when I play on my acoustic guitar these are sometimes a bit overwhelming, how do I get rid of them or minimize them?

Practice is the most important thing.
Broken in strings help and certain types of strings are better than others - Elixirs and other coated strings tend to be far less prone and some companies like LaBella polish their basses,

Newish elixirs have almost no squeak for me, acoustic and electric.

Ja, I'm fairly new at playing acoustic so I'd probably have to work on my technique a bit and also it's the strings that came with the guitar so a restring would probably help the situation. I don't want to go blaming the guitar just yet...

Would string lube like Fast Fret help, you think?

I have fast fret, used it once or twice, made no difference in my opinion, and it doesn't clean the fretboard well in my opinion ... Maybe others have better experiences with it
