AlanRatcliffe Either mic will do well as your first studio condenser. My preference leans a little more to the Rode, because I've had good results with them as room, acoustic guitar and overhead mics (actually better results than for lead vocals, where it proved decent, but a bit sibilant), which means a better upgrade path than something that shines on vocals, but not other uses. The NT1-A can often be found for a lot less second hand (R1.5K - 1.8K) - I picked one up for R1.2K once). Unless the one for sale also has the shockmount included - then it's easily worth R2K.

AlanRatcliffe Yup that's the kit and well worth it (new it retails for R4,795). Pop filter, shockmount, cable and dust cover included. ? All you need now is a mic stand...
