MIM Strat vs Tokai Breezy sound Tele

Hi people!,

I have a '91 Fender Strat, candy apple. I had an offer to swap my strat with case
for a brand new Tokai Breezy sound, Sunburst, maple Tele with tweed case.
The Tokai is beautiful and plays and sounds like a dream!
I have two Fender Teles in my collection and love them.
What should I do? Any comment welcome!

MIJ > MIM... I would bet that the Tokai is slightly better, however, another tele might be redundant

On paper it's a better guitar than your Strat. However, you'd just be moving from three Strats and two Teles to two Strats and three Teles.

Is it nicer than your Baja Tele? If not, then it's kind of redundant.

Also is your MIM your main Strat or is the Jap? If it's the MIM, then you're possibly trading down.

Then again, if you can see this being your main guitar, better and more useful than any of your others, go for it.

ok ill probably get shot for this, but I love the Tokai teles. I think that I prefer uncovered neck pickups so ill pull it off when I get mine. Think you should go compare tele to tele. your baja will be crowned if that's your thing, but you may still only have 2 Teles at the end of this. I've always liked the older (yours fits) MIM strats and teles, even their pickups. So it is fairly level playing feild for the name brands. If I was buying new, Tokai breezy over HW1 for sure, and price wise Tokai just wins as you start increasing the amount of money you are willing to spend too. I will (not an empty promise) put my money where my mouth is, and get a Tokai or maybe just a Tokai neck for my Aerodyne if the wait gets to me...

I've listened to all of you and you all make a lot of sense!
Thanks for your response. I've just returned from a gig where I used my Strat. My sound and tone today was sooooo good, that I've decided to stick to the old lady. Funny, they get like family members,and I know I'll be sorry soon after I've made the swap!

Well, then just keep your Strat, and buy the Tokai Tele ..... that way, you have it all !!! ?

Unfortunately not that easy for me. I always have to either, swap stuff or sell and then buy what I want. Just don't have the cash, like many other musos.
