FRIX Has anyone tried Beyerdynamic microphones? They seem to be doing some really nice microphones as well.
JGP Apologies all, a bit late with a reply. I would strongly suggest that anyone looking for a vocal mic tries as many as possible out first. The SM58 is not the be all and end all and may or may not work for a given voice. They are also insanely expensive now compared to alternatives from the other big brands. In answer to the query re beyerdynamic mics the M88 (now M88TG) whilst a great classic is very costly and is more than just a vocal mic, it will do kick drum, bass cabs, baritone sax, male vocal and almost anything else at the lower end that you can think of. Th M69TG is the same kind of thing for higher frequency sources. Try a TGV50D dedicated vocal mic and you should be very impressed at well under SM58 pricing.
