i recently played the modern player thinline tele at a store and was suitably impressed.... they are the Chinese range of fenders but definitely feel superior to a CV squire
Keira how would you rate the Classic Vibes against that Sx tele you recently acquired? I'm just curious!
well that SX tele cost me 2K and NOT 5-7K the CV squires are selling for BUT i bought the SX tele for that american ash thinline body ...
.the SX as i bought it does NOT exist anymore......
in last week i replaced the neck with an a All parts neck ...fitted Fender replacement vintage tuners , popped a vintage fender bridge tele pup into the bridge and changed the SX bridge for a vintage Tele 3 saddle bridge ,,,
so all that is currently still remaining is the body and the scratchplate and at the moment the neck pup as i want to put a fat 60's single coil into it but the body is only routed for single coil ...so needs to wait ...
however the stock SX neck put is not totally rubbish as the bridge one was.... so i will eventually replace it but will gig the guitar tonight and tomorro with the guitar as it is right now
that said ... i did gig the SX with no mods just new strings last friday and it worked just fine .... so they totally usable to gig with as they stand ..
compared to a CV i did NOT directly compare them but i would never pay top dollar for a CV ...if i got one at 2 - 3 K and it felt good then maybe yes .... so price matters .... personally i don't see the fuss made over them ...rather buy a MIM or USA or even rather a Tokai tele ...
and the SX is absolutely best value for money and even for me who literally only kept the body ...i could not buy a wamoth replacement body and ship it here in USA swamp ash thinline for under 4K so now i have a great body and a box of spare parts and a neck for only 2 K
i'll post some clips of the partcaster soon as i get a chance ....
