SX strat refinish

Mornin all...

So I'm modding a strat that's been lying in the storeroom. Started to refinish it, but I abandoned the project. So I thought that a wood finish would be earthy...cause I'm an earthy kind of guy... I finally got it stripped down completely to the bare wood....and it is UGGGGGLY!

Think it's alder but it really isn't that nice or ash...

Any suggestions?

Will consider a colour finish but not a plain ole red or blue or whatever, think out the box Gents...

The only ordinary finish I might consider is a Sunburst....

Still needs a bit of a cleanup (or a bleach job) to get rid of some of the dirt. Then wet it to raise the grain and to see what it will really look like with a clear finish.

The glue lines are a little problematic (but largely covered by the pickguard), so I'd either go dark trans colour or more likely a solid. Pearl white? I loves me a pearl white - subtle but pretty ?

all the classic 50's/60's fender strat colours ...pick one ...daphne blue is my fave

The more I sand the better she looks...add a little water and "Hey Presto!"

Gonna burn slightly around the edges to get a light burstish type of thingy... :-[

Laaaaaaame!!! Do it in a midnight blue with sparkles! I saw that colour on a girl in my class' nails today! Stunning! It would look epic on a strat!

If you don't want plain, then have you considered trying a wrap? Its not for everyone, but there are so many wraps available that there's bound to be somethings appealing. I think they can be removed if you get tired of the look.

Google "guitar wraps" brings back plenty of sellers. Try https://www.axewraps.com/wraps/ as one of many.

+ 1 to the pearl white. I did that recently, but added a purple candy over the pearl and was really surprised at the results, turned into an almost iridescent colour that really plays with the light. I now want to try some other candy colours... :-[
