Another Ibbo LP (pre-lawsuit) rebuild . . .serious this time! Help!

Hi all.

I've got my 4th Ibanez Les Paul rebuild into the shop, . . . . just this one is completely stripped . .
no paint, no binding, standing disassembled for 5 years . .

I have an idea to give it a maple cap, and stain it a couple times for something different.
Question, . . . where to get figured maple veneers in Dbn/S.Coast ?

I've never done this (maple cap) before, and am curious for advice on thickness, locating the veneer, etc.

I don't have to cap it, it's just a thought (he said excitedly) . .

Shot . . . . . ?

I looked around SA for figured maple and couldn't find any. I have hunted online for the stuff I wanted & finally had some sent to me from the US. Do you want me to give the sources I have found? When you say veneer, are you talking about-1mm-or-so or about a more substantial cap?
Budget is also significant, because good figure is $$$$, ...and then theres the shipping.

I also looked for maple to do a guitar build :O my hat!!! The price goes up more than double when you include shippied :O
