Hi all, on a more serious note here is my update....
I have achieved some level of signature preservation using an epoxy compound ( Pratley quickset clear ) found in South Africa.....
I must say I am completely chuffed with the outcome.... Pratley is amazing..... I was worried at first to get the correct "preserver" lots of internet searching etc & hardware store browsing....
Firstly here is are some Pics:

For those that find themselves with this type of conundrum, The method I used is as follows...
1. Tape around the signature to be preserved neatly with masking tape.
2. Blow the dust off the signature are with a hair dryer on cold to remove loose dust.
3.1 Mix a 1:1 ratio Pratley on a piece of cardboard (Don't mix too fast - air bubbles) with a tooth pic or similar.
3. Do a test run with the Pratley compound on a piece of cardboard, making your own signature with the same marker used in the signature (if possible)
4. scoop up some Pratley mixture previously mixed and apply to test signature evenly with applicator(tooth pic horizontally) OR a suitable applicator.
5. If test run 1 is looking good then mark a section on the guitar other than the signature, with your own mark and coat with Pratley... to test.
6. If the result is looking good, then you are good to cover the actual signature...
7. To cover the actual signature, blow the area with a hair dryer on cold, apply even layer of Pratley but remove the masking tape after about 25 seconds of applying the Pratley coating.
8. Leave to dry for 24 hours before touching or use....
Notes:
1. Read & understand the Pratley instructions manual first.
2. Do not let the Pratley dry without removing the masking tape first (You will damage the signature)
3. Do not try and FIX a covered area if it is still wet OR less than 24 hours dry
4. Do not mix too much or too less Pratley when covering.
5. Area must be covered within 20 sec after mixing the two parts together. Don't rush but be consistent in covering
6. It is possible to apply a second layer to the first after the first layer is completely dry (This is dangerous)
Warnings : Do not stick your fingers together.... Do not bash your guitar on concrete walls, there is chance of damaging the signature.....Follow these instructions @ own risk.
I am on the way to buy shares in Pratley..... ?
Cheers,
Lee
