Whadya guys think of the ME-50 multi fx pedal?
The demo looks awesome but I'd like to hear from someone who's actually used one.
I personally played on one norrie, its not so nice, the GT6 and GT8 of boss is much better, but yeah its more expensive. The ME50 does not have a LED display etc if im not mistaken.
I've been using the ME-50 for about a year now and am pretty pleased with it. What I like about it is that it operates like 3 stomp boxes, rather than a digital (menu-driven) pedal. It's easy to tweak by turning knobs rather than scrolling through menus. The sounds are good. If you do lots of patch changes during a gig I wouldn't recommend it (although you can save digital patches, it's not really made for that).
If you are happy to use 1 overdrive sound (I use my amps' 2nd channel too), 1 modulation effect, 1 delay and 1 expression pedal, then it does a great job.
I used the GT-5 for many years, but the sounds are dated. Considered buying the GT8, but realised I don't need that many options, and I'm at the stage where size matters - I'm tired of carting lot's of heavy gear around 🙂
One of the guitarists from my church was given one last month. It's pretty good as a multi effects pedal, but after comparing the sounds of the boss stompboxes we have that the pedal emulates, it does fall a little short. I felt that the drives sounded a bit thin in some cases. Best bet, try it out for yourself. It might work for you.
Great comments - thanks guys. I'll test it out 🙂
