You selected the challenge topic, and I think you were spot on in your execution. Excellent production and arrangement as usual. You make me feel very amateurish, which sucks ?

What sample library did you use for the orchestral sections? They were very well done. I found it difficult incorporating these in my mix, I have never really composed for orchestra before so didn't know what I was doing.

While I thought some brass would have complimented your mix, I thought you had the best guitar leads. I enjoyed the old school feel and production on the percussion side of things. The track as a whole kinda made me think of an African American swing version of the Beach Boys, minus the vocals.

I'll have to sleep on this one before casting my vote.

I must admit that I stole quite blatantly from their percussion track. I kinda built my riffs on top of their drum track and hoped for the best!

Ah schucks ? thanks, full time music & sound is what I do, for games and some video/advertising ets as well as record some bands here and there, it was kind of odd not being able to work on this music enough because I was too busy working on music.

I used some old eastwest brass patch.

I actually liked yours most and voted for you, if you ever want to start a metal-swing band let me know, could be quite fun.

Yes. New system whereby you'll only know at end who is winning/won. There are more changes to come.

Not quite like the elections. You can see the results of the voting all the way through the counting, with graphs depicting who is ahead e.g. the ANC ?

Effing excellent work manne!! Dang, I'm having a very hard time choosing my pick because I liked them all so much. Each one speaks to me in different ways....so much so I'd almost like to see a 3 way tie.

In the end.......well, just to say......Mixerboy's track is stellar writing but for me personally doesn't swing as well as PeteM's tune does, but while Pete's has a nice Gypsy feel almost and definitely steps away from a trad sound......it is not rock enough for my ear-according to the challenge itself. So my vote goes to Doc-Phil......... but only by a very narrow margin. This because he really brought the distorted sound into the swing, along with the upright bass and all.

Just to say....rocked out swing to my ear or interpretation was all about using rock instruments or vibe within the swing context.

But I swear....I fully enjoyed them all and was really impressed with the level of musicianship and compositional and recording/mixing skills shown by all 3 of you guys. Stellar work.

Doc-Phil and Mixerboy I totally see that music in film soundtracks. Doc-Phil, yours in a Tarantino or Rodriguez flick!

Mixerboy.....short as it was, I really dug the guitar solo!! Said a lot in a very short space of time. That is an art.

For sure! This is as it should be. Otherwise the voting can be skewed. This way one is more likely to vote according to the music and how it fits the category.
