Sounds like the bridge rectifier's giving your trouble. It's a common issue on the DSL / TSL thanks to the basic design. J.P. Le Roux modded mine including adding a fan to the back of the cab which helps, but a few years down the line including a lot of moving the amp for gigs and the issue recurred.
He reckons part of the problem is having the tubes wired directly to the pc board, coupled with inadequate standard ventilation. Move the sucker before she's had a good cool down and you get microscopic cracking in the soldering. Mine's just come back from J.P. after a service to sort that out, along with a minor mod to give better clean tone.
They're nice amps, but they do have their limitations. The only other mod I'd do to mine would be replacing the speaker with a greenback or equivalent. After that, it's really a case of getting another amp.
Modding anything has to be done with your reason. You can make incremental improvements but there'll come a point at which the money spent can't be justified, especially if you could have bought a better piece of gear for the same amount of wonga.
Give J.P. a shout, he's over in Krugersdorp IIRC.
It's been to J.P. before and had the rectifier replaced.
It always stands for at least 20 min before I moved it after being switched off...
Such a pain...
