So, I just recieved my first Tele yesterday, been scouting around for a MIM or a MIJ for a while and actually considered at Blackbeard Tele Kit, mainly cause I wanted to play around with the paint finishes much like Manny did a while ago

Then my eye fell on this Chevy, after a bit of reading, I found out that these were produced in Korea by Cor-tek, manufactures of Cort guitars.

The Chevy brand was produced 1988 -1989 ran into trade marking issues with the Chevy car manufactures the name then changed to Chery then to Cheri, manufacturing halted in 93ish. I also found a usergroup on facebook ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/291296664223004/

These instruments were sold into the European market exclusively, this particular instrument was bought in Amsterdam in 1990 and found it way to Worcester. I asked local forumer, Riaan Duvenhage to give it a once over, for which I am very grateful and he did so and gave the thumbs up. Small world turns out my godchild, Melissa, was his intern at the Worcester hospital.... anyhoo

I am quite chuffed with her... very nice for a 20 - 23 year old ...chaps I'm talking about the guitar.... This is the TL - Custom

A sweet guitar! I had the pleasure to play it when checking it out for Atilla. A really good buy in my opinion.

In fact, if Atilla for some reason decided not to buy it, I might just have grabbed her myself ?

Looks wonderful Attila! Nice specs and a nice finish.

All maple body and neck, eh? Heavy, but if you don't mind that and the pickups are right for it, a recipe for great tone.

BTW, I see the specs claim MOP inlays, but they're actually abalone. Strings look like originals. ? I trust those are already gone?

She has a heavy butt, which I can live with, a restring and clean up will happen this weekend and then make a call on the pickups once I take a look under the hood. The do sound quite nice as is .. anyways let see

Q: can one use the aluminium foil, carbonate soda and hot water trick to get rid of oxidation on the gold plated parts ? (know it works for silver and brass and copper)
