Hi Guys
Beware of a guy named Marlin Moses who advertises stuff on Gumtree. His latest was a Roland Jazz Chorus JC120 for the princely sum of R1500. He advertises in CT and JNB, but claims to be based in Nelspruit (where there is 'no demand for the item'). He also claims to know nothing about 'speakers' hence the bargain price...
Anyway, he will only engage in deposits - I offered to have a friend in Nelspruit come and collect the amp and give him the cash and he went cold, and started making all sorts of excuses, the same day he was sending me his FNB e-wallet details for a 50% deposit...
The images he sent me of 'his' amp were lifted from an e-Bay ad in Germany!
Luckily my scam detector is very finely honed and I paid him nothing, but just be aware and warned guys, these idiots are very professional and convincing.
If they refuse an eft into an account and assist on FNB e-wallet (very hard to trace), then be very wary from the get-go.
Cheers

Yeah, I also saw that ad. I just looked at the price and knew something was off. I've got into the habit of running a pic search into google images to see if the pics are lifted or original.
On a related note - it irks me when people don't post their own pics. Every second electronic device has some kind of camera in it these days - I don't care about picture quality but authenticity.
