Found a nice 1974 - Ibanez 698 (Gibson J200 copy) with original case on Gumtree the other day, this finishes off the my Jumbo collection........hopefully..........maybe, unless I find another one :?
Once cleaned up and setup, these guitars sound and play beautifully, I'll post a video as soon as I get a chance. It has a few scratches and dents, but still sounds perfect.
The guy I bought it off told me a funny story that he took it to Sound Select in Rosebank and the guys told him that these guitars were Gibson J200 rejects, so Ibanez slapped their name on them and sold them for half the price........BOLLOCKS! I'm guessing he missed "Made in Japan" on the back of the headstock.
Guess I won't be going to Sound Select anytime soon for guitar advice. ???
