Drum program required - Whats best?

So, I am developing lots of idea's I have and recording these to hopefully make into songs, but I'm finding that I'm being hampered by the lack of a rhythmic beat in some instances. What I'm looking for is a drum program that sounds decent and 'real', that I can use as a plugin in Pro Tools or Sonar X1 Pro? I have looked at EZ Drummer, and have been impressed by some of the online tutorials I've seen, yet I know there are some who dismiss EZ Drummer, and say its one of the worst things available? Why? Whats the problem with it? Is Superior Drummer worth the extra money compared to EZ, or is that considered in the same vein as EZ? If not EZ Drummer, what are the other options? If you have NI Kontakt then Studio Drummer is also an option. There aren't as many kits, but what they have does sound pretty great.
