I agree @doc - this is all about 80/20. You've gotta load a lot of stuff for the 20% that brings in 80% of revenue to be more obvious and then focus on those areas.
The same applies to stock photos. It's definitely not gonna work unless you're constantly uploading stuff. Initially (for the first 100-300 submissions, at least) you have no idea what works and what doesn't. But it becomes clearer over time.
